UNM Women's Resource Center
The Women’s Resource Center at the University of New Mexico is a place of advocacy, support, and safety for all members of UNM and greater community. Through an intersectional feminist model of empowerment, we offer educational, social, and cultural programming aimed at encouraging self-determination and community engagement. We promote awareness and the advancement of women’s rights to ensure equity and seek to facilitate understanding and mutual respect.
Our services include free counseling services, confidential advocacy, free printing, free menstrual products, student led programming, workshops and more. We specialize in assisting women, however, all individuals of all genders and backgrounds are welcome!
Sabrina Single Parents Scholarship Fund
In 2004, former Director Sandrea Gonzales established the UNM Women's Resource Center Sabrina Single Mothers Scholarship Fund. Having worked with many single parents during her time at UNM and being a single-parent student herself, she saw how many were having to abandon their education due to lack of funds, something we continue to see today. This scholarship was created in the hope of alleviating a bit of stress our single parent students face on campus. To date we have awarded $49,000 to 94 students over 22 years.
Nurture and Thrive Fund
The Nurture and Thrive Fund is a newly created fund that exists to provide critical support to UNM students in the process of overcoming violent threats to their safety. Student emergency funds are provided to student survivors dealing with Intimate Partner Violence, sexual assault, gender-based harassment and stalking. The UNM Women’s Resource Center meets meet students every day that could benefit from this type of support. Often a small amount of money can help a survivor of violence stay safer while keeping them on track to graduation. Supporting this fund helps students heal allowing them to thrive. Please support the Nurture and Thrive Fund today!
